Little Bird's Book of Bones: What Is The Purpose Of The Temple?

littlebirdbookofbones:

The Temple is a dedicated space for the spirits and deities that I have relationships with. By setting aside a place for them, I create space that they can inhabit as they please whether I am present or not. I invite them to use the space and in turn I agree to enter into their presence when I am…

Something interesting and spontaneous I wrote this morning in my seldom-used magical journal.

I don’t care how many holes are in my shirts and that I’m down to three pairs of wearable pants/skirts, the first money I earn after finishing up all this tax bullshit is going to restocking the Temple service supplies. I don’t even have two tea lights to rub together and I haven’t seen a stick of incense in months. The only three things I’m spending a dime on right now:

  1. Temple
  2. Plants for the garden
  3. Chickens

(I have charcoal and resins, but you have to spend an hour dropping more on it and fumigating your neighborhood or it’s kind of a waste.)

It’s like a new house without all the packing and unpacking.

Moving all the furniture around and rearranging everything always makes things more exciting for a few months. Nearly all of the Cherry Tomato seeds I planted 5 days ago are sprouted, and about half of the Rutgers Tomato seeds are coming up. The eggplant and bell pepper seeds will take a little longer, but should come up soon now that they are nice and warm.

I worked on some sigils last night with the help of Pan and Ellis, and ended up creating a better version of last year’s growth sigil for the garden. I also created a sigil designed to encourage cooperation and harmony in the house since we are getting another resident tomorrow. The third sigil was completely freeform and unexpected, and I’m put in the uncomfortable position of giving it to the associate it was made for this weekend. I didn’t know what it was for until I finished it. I don’t think this associate will take it well because 1). I drew a tarot card over it and it was the Tower, so I wrote that on there and 2). he takes offense to anyone saying anything about his spiritual practices. I’m just glad to be in a position where if he tries to get offended, I can shrug and walk away.

a little bit of hard work paid off, so I get to dedicate today to the Temple. It’s very nearly complete. I have to start by scrubbing my too-much-hair first in a bathtub full of peppermint, rosemary and sage.

on the community front, I put our house up on CouchSurfing.com (under the name HouseInAGreenPlace). I doubt we’ll get many visitors because Brasstown is not exactly on route to anywhere important. I wish we could get some short term visitors to help us with the building of the coop and the garden preparation, but I couldn’t sign up for WWOOFing because we don’t have anything growing yet (apparently the indoor garden doesn’t count). The landlady even agreed to let us have goats now, but it’s probably not going to happen until late this year or the beginning of next year.
